Why this exists
I built Fathoms because I needed it.
I've always struggled with speaking. Not just public speaking, but everyday conversation. Putting thoughts into words under pressure, sounding like I actually know what I'm talking about. That part never came naturally to me.
And I hate not knowing what other people are talking about. That feeling when everyone's nodding along and you're piecing together half a context clue, hoping nobody asks you a follow-up. I wanted to get better at both: understanding things deeply enough to speak about them, and speaking about them clearly enough to feel confident.
So I made Fathoms: a game where you get a random topic, research it, talk it out loud, and see how you did. It's practice disguised as play. No lecture hall, no awkward small talk. Just you, a prompt, and a timer.
I built it for people like me who want to get sharper without it feeling like homework. Jump in, fumble, retry, improve. That's the whole point.
I'm Noah Chang. Fathoms is a side project from my portfolio. If you want to see what else I'm building, that's the place to look.
